New CASAS Math GOALS Series Receives NRS Approval
The National Leader in Adult Education Assessment Since 1980

SAN DIEGO, March 7, 2019 – CASAS announces that its new Math GOALS test series has received approval from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE), for use in the federal National Reporting System (NRS) at all levels of Adult Basic Education and Adult Secondary Education.

A three-year approval period begins March 7, 2019, and continues through March 6, 2022. CASAS will submit additional data and technical material to extend the approval period. To see the Federal Register announcement, click here.

The Math GOALS series will be available for online testing through CASAS eTests. The online testing system provides immediate results for students, instructors, and administrators and greatly facilitates the testing process.

Math GOALS will be available in CASAS eTests in mid-April. Paper-based tests will be available to ship late April.

The existing Life Skills Math series, Forms 31-38 is approved for ABE and ASE students through June 30, 2019.

The U.S. Department of Education approval recognizes Math GOALS as a standardized test series that has undergone extensive field-testing and statistical analysis procedures to ensure reliable and valid test results. The series is aligned to the College and Career Readiness (CCR) Standards for Adult Education and measures life skills and academic math skills. Math GOALS covers the full range of math abilities from Beginning Literacy through Adult Secondary, ensuring that programs can use the series with adult learners transitioning to postsecondary education and training.

Since 1980, CASAS has been the premier assessment system of choice by adult education and workforce training programs to identify the initial skill level for program entry, measure adult learners’ progress, and document successful learning outcomes. In addition to the NRS-approved assessments, CASAS offers a variety of standardized assessments for testing needs in additional programs.

CASAS values its long-term relationship with all adult education and workforce training program providers and state leadership staff. Please do not hesitate to contact us at casas@casas.org or at 800-255-1036 with any questions about any CASAS test series.
