Technical Information Briefs

The Technical Information Briefs document the test development, or validation process, for the CASAS assessments. Each brief provides information on a component of the validation process.

The Technical Information Briefs are for state and local agency personnel, or any interested party seeking information about the validation of CASAS tests. 

The six Technical Information Briefs include the following:

Test Development Overview. From the initial test blueprint to the validation of the final test forms, this report provides information about the entire CASAS test development process.

 

Content Validity. This report focuses on the methods that CASAS uses to ensure that test content is relevant and appropriate for the adult education populations.

 

Fairness and Sensitivity. This report focuses on the methods that CASAS uses to ensure that all tests are fair and sensitive to the adult education populations taking CASAS tests.

 

Standard Setting. This report describes the process that CASAS uses to determine the test scores that correspond to each of the National Reporting System for Adult Education Educational Functioning Levels. 

 

Reliability. This report describes the methods that CASAS uses to examine the reliability of the CASAS test scores.

 

Other Validity Studies. This report describes the additional research studies that CASAS conducts to examine the validity of CASAS tests.
