As a working mom and out of school or over a decade, Michaela didn’t think it was possible to earn her high school diploma. She enrolled in the NEDP with hopes to have better career options in the future. Participation in the NEDP helped her realize she could accomplish her dream career by furthering her education in the nursing field. Michaela became a certified nursing assistant as well as a certified phlebotomist. Michaela's passion is caring for people. She wants to take her skills to the next level of becoming a licensed practical nurse and eventually a registered nurse. NEDP staff was impressed with her work ethic. While in the program, she worked full-time and provided loving care for her young son.

Michaela said, “This program made it easy for me to be able to do homework and manage a pretty busy life. I also was able to still work full-time and take care of my son. It isn’t an easy program, but it challenged me, and it was one of the most rewarding opportunities I have ever experienced.”

She has gained a new love for learning thanks to the incredible teachers she had the pleasure of working with in the program. They guided and encouraged her to follow her dream and to them, she is extremely grateful.

We wish Michaela all the best as she embarks on the LPN program in New York State. We are proud to be able to support her educational dream and goals of becoming an RN.
